2011 Circle of Strength Members

21st Century Program in Bethpage School District
The 21st Century Program supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in January. Each student who attended the program, held at Center Blvd. Elementary school, purchased a copy of Hope is Here to Stay.

The school supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in March and purchasing copies of Hope is Here to Stay.


Aiden and Addison's gift to LFG
Nine-year-old Aiden and his sister have a very fun family, led by a great grandfather who loves to set up competitions at family gatherings with cash prizes! At the last gathering, Aiden's expert penny throwing earned him a crisp $100 bill, which he had been saving all spring to present to Lauren at the Ohio football camp in June. Addison, who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall, had also been collecting her money earned by helping her family with household chores to donate to LFG. Thank you sweet Aiden and Addison for being two wonderful and generous members of Lauren's Circle of Strength!


City of Easton Dress Down Friday
Once a month the employees of the City of Easton pay to observe a dress down day with the donations going to a deserving organization. In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, LFG was chosen as the charity of choice. Thank you City of Easton employees for honoring LFG with your generous donation!

Mr. Cinoa and Mr. Durie's 1/2 Marathon
Mr. Cinoa and Mr. Durie, teachers at Lauren's former elementary school, Tracy Elementary, ran the Allentown Half Marathon in April in honor of Lauren. With support of the Tracy community, these generous gentlemen both ran personal bests and raised funds for LFG.


Developmental Disabilites Institute Starting Early, Air Park Location
The school supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in April as part of their Library Week celebration.


Domozych Brothers Awareness Campaign
Throughout the summer, Thomas, Michael and James enlisted the help of friends and family to hand make keychains and lanyards to distribute in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in September. The boys used gold - the official color for kids cancer awareness and gray - the color for brain tumor awareness and created beautiful handcrafted pieces as well as a kids' version of the LFG website: www.laurensfirstandgoal4kids.weebly.com . Thank you boys for helping to spread the word!


Duffield Elementary School
The school supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in February and purchasing copies of Hope is Here to Stay. During the visit, Patrice joined a fourth grade art class for a presentation of the illustrations from Hope is Here to Stay and was interviewed by a class of fourth grade journalists.


Easton Area Middle School - 7/8
Eigth grade students, Nicole and Miranda, organized a 'crazy hat day' and a 'pajama day' at school for students to raise funds for LFG. In all, students raised over $500 for LFG.

Ed Adamko's Annual Neighbors and Friends Golf Outing
There is nothing better than doing something you love, while at the same time, helping someone in need. Once again, Ed gathered neighbors and friends from Easton and beyond for a day of golf, friendship and fun at The Club at Morgan Hill. Over 65 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day of golf and raised over $1800 for LFG. Over the years, Ed's efforts have generated over $7000 to help children and families served by LFG.

Forks Flamingos Girls Field Hockey
Lead by super coaches Cathy McIntyre and Jan Youtz, the girls on the 5th and 6th grade team donated $150 to LFG to help children battling pediatric cancer. Thanks girls for being so thoughtful and generous!


Forks Football 2nd Annual Chili Cookoff
For the second year, the Forks Youth Football team Moms organized a chili cookoff at the last home game of the season. Fans enjoyed sampling the delicious entries and voting for their favorites, while raising over $600 for LFG.

Lafayette SAAC 5K
The Lafayette College Student Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored the Hope is Here to Stay 5K in the spring that raised $2,610. Thanks to all of the tremendous athletes, the Lafayette community and the group from the Easton Area Middle School and the Freedom High School girls soccer team for their continued support.


Marguerite Mulvey Elementary School
The school supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in March and purchasing copies of Hope is Here to Stay.


Notre Dame High School National Honor Society
Led by the National Honor Society, students at Notre Dame supported Lauren's First and Goal by participating in "Chocolate Day" in the cafeteria. Participants contributed $1 to enjoy dipping tasty treats into the chocolate fountain during their lunch period. Yum!!


Odyssey Fitness, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Amanda MacPeek and the generous staff at Odyssey Fitness hosted a Body Combat class as a fundraiser for LFG in April. About 60 people participated in the class and helped raise $750. Now that's working for a cause!


Phillipsburg High School "Just Desserts" Club
Students worked to create and donate home-baked treats for the volunteers and college coaches to enjoy at the annual PA football camp. There were defintely no leftovers!!


Plaza Elementary School
The school supported Lauren's First and Goal by hosting Patrice for an author's visit in January and purchasing copies of Hope is Here to Stay. In addition, second grade students created cards for Patrice and Lauren after the visit.


Reporter's Challenge Golf Outing
Once again, Larry O'Rourke gathered a group of Lehigh Valley sports writers for their annual golf outing in May to benefit ALS research and Lauren's First and Goal. We are very grateful to Mr. O'Rourke for honoring LFG and raising funds to spread the mission of the foundation over the years, even in the midst of his own illness. He will certainly be remembered fondly and missed by the many people who knew and loved him.


Scott's Auto Services, Easton
Sincere thanks to Scott DeWalt for coming to our rescue and transporting golf carts across town with his equipment for our football camp in Easton. When Scott heard our plea for help from Coach Troxell, he generously agreed to transport the carts from Williams Township to Forks Township and back on the weekend of the camp.

Sugar Babe Cupcakes
If you know Lauren, you know she LOVES cupcakes! Angela Malpedo loves them too, so much so, that she started up her own cupcakery in Bethlehem. During the month of June, Anglea donated a portion of the sales of her delicious cupcakes to LFG in honor of Lauren. We look forward to visiting her new storefront in Bethlehem soon!!

Susan Anastor's Jewelry Designs
Susan, the mom of Lafayette College player, Andrew, created and donated beautiful, handmade earrings and bracelets to be displayed and sold at the LFG camp this June to benefit the Foundation. Look for Lauren and Gracie to be modeling some of her designs on June 3rd! Thank you Susan for your thoughtful and beautiful donations.

Tastefully Simple
During the month of October, Jillian Brodhead, Lauren's awesome teacher, organized a Tastefully Simple online sale to benefit LFG. Clients placed their orders online, items were delivered directly to their doors, and we all enjoyed some yummy treats while raising over $100 for LFG!

Tracy Elementary School - Mr. Cinoa and Mr. Durie
Supported by donations from staff members, teachers, Mr. Cinoa and Mr. Durie, once again competed in the Allentown half marathon to benefit LFG in April, both completing the course in personal best times!


Troxell's Lemonade Stand
Summer and Capri Troxell hosted a lemonade stand at the Franklin & Marshall homecoming football game, raising more than $1100 for LFG. Thanks to the girls and Franklin & Marshall for helping support LGF during Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month.


Warren County Vocational High School Key Club
Led by Hannah Hart and her family, students donated paper goods items to be used at the PA football camp. Special thank you to the entire Hart family - Hannah, Olivia, Amelia, Karen and Chris - for all their work in collecting the items and for the hours spent volunteering at the camp.


Wen Schmitz's Earrings
A native of Pennsylvania and a brain tumor survivor, Wen Schmitz made 32 pairs of earrings related to Chakras colors as part of her Karma Project for a Yoga Teacher Training. She donated all of the proceeds to Lauren's First and Goal to help others who are living with a brain tumor diagnosis.


West Hollow Middle School, Team 6-2
Inspired by the book, Hope is Here to Stay, students, teachers and staff at the school organized and participated in a walk-a-thon to benefit LFG and children living with a brain tumor diagnosis. Members of team 6-2 raised over $2,000!!
